The State of Connecticut (hereafter "the State") Department of Information Technology (DOIT) uses Microsoft Exchange to supply E-mail services for a number of State agencies. This investment has expanded over the years and is now significant with over 20,000 mailboxes statewide. DOIT wishes to acquire an "E-mail software archiving product" to provide a cost-effective enterprise archiving solution. DOIT is seeking bids from software developers and resellers of off-the-shelf (COTS) products which archive e-mail and provide the ability to search and retrieve information. The State is not interested in obtaining custom written applications or products that would require substantial code modifications.
