Elkhorn Stewardship Project
Description of Work - The Elkhorn Project is located on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest encompassing the area indicated on the Vicinity Map (which includes the Contract Area Map). Land management objectives for the project area include:
• Improve Forest Health - Provide growing space for healthy trees and reduce fuel loadings
• Utilize Timber or other products - Provide wood resource to forest product industry.
To accomplish these objectives, the contract includes the following components: stand clearing/thinning, mechanical fuels reduction, snag and down wood management, piling of fuels and removal of timber or other products.
Resulting Contract - Any resultant contract will be a commercial stewardship services contract with requirements for timber removal. Exchange of goods (timber) for services is expected.
Project Location - The Elkhorn 1 Stewardship contract area is located approximately 2 miles south of Red Feather Lakes Village, Colorado on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District. The legal location for the harvest units is T10N, R73W, Sections 5,6,7 and 32 6th P.M. Larimer County, Colorado.
