Educational Interpreter & Transliterator Testing
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to solicit proposals and obtain quotations for
Testing of interpreters and transliterators working in the educational setting. The project will
provide opportunity for testing across North Carolina during the year 2008.
The North Carolina State Board of Education requires all interpreters and transliterators working
in the public schools pass the Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment (EIPA) or the State
Level Cued Language Assessment (SLCLA) with a score of 3 or better. This program will
provide an opportunity for them to be tested. Testing results will provide information about
strengths and weaknesses in their respective skill areas that will lead to focused staff
development to assist them in meeting the Board mandate. Qualified interpreters and
