The State is interested in proposals to protect and restore the quality of water resources from the impacts of nonpoint source (NPS) water pollution. NPS pollution is pollution that comes from diffuse sources, such as runoff from land, roads, and developed areas that carry nutrients, sediment, and other pollutants into surface waters. Project proposals should be identified as priorities in the relevant Tactical Basin Plans. Proposals can involve, but are not limited to, projects that: (a) mitigate the effects of stormwater runoff from developed land areas; (b) promote low impact development (LID) and Green Stormwater Infrastructure practices; (c) improve floodplain and river corridor function and flood resilience by incorporating the science of fluvial geomorphology to achieve natural stream stability; (d) restore riparian buffers (land adjacent to rivers, lakes, ponds, or wetlands) using native vegetation; (e) restore wetlands; and, (f) enhance the environmental sustainability of agricultural lands.
