Early Hearing Detection and Intervention
The Department of State Health Services Newborn Screening Unit announces the expected availability of fiscal year 2014 federal funding to contract with two (2) statewide non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting families and their children who are deaf or hard of hearing to provide on-site technical assistance, education, and outreach activities to hearing service providers. In collaboration with DSHS, the contractor will implement a parent pilot project to provide on-site technical assistance, education, and outreach activities to hearing service providers. The goal of this project is to ensure children who are identified with hearing loss as newborn infants or young children are provided appropriate intervention services to prevent delays in communication and cognitive skill development.
