ETDs, Institutional Repositories and Open Access Integrative E-Learning Processes in Higher Education

West Virginia, United States
Non-Profit
RFP

The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and West Virginia University (WVU) are veteran partners in the ETD movement. In 1998 WVU became the 2nd institution in the world to successfully require ETD submission. By 2001 Pitt was ready to take the plunge as well. WVU successfully co-sponsored the ETD 2006 U.S. Regional Conference, co-chaired by John Hagen of WVU. Further, Mr. Hagen has served on the NDLTD Board of Directors since its inception and has been involved with its conference planning efforts since 1998. Thus he will be well poised to take on the responsibility as Conference Chair and has received full support from the Libraries and Office of the Provost. The School of Information Science at Pitt has a long standing history in scholarly publishing issues. Pitt has conference facilities which can easily accommodate large international audiences. Given both schools history of experience on the ETD frontier, it is only natural that Pitt and WVU jointly sponsor the 12th Annual Symposium on Electronic Theses and Dissertations.
