The objectives of the West Midlands ERDF Programme 2007-13 are
closely aligned with the WMES and the priorities identified by the regions
Strategic Boards. This alignment will ensure that ERDF provides the
necessary additional and focused resource to help us achieve our shared
goals for the region. The ERDF Programme will contribute towards closing
the regions 10 billion output gap through its objectives:
1. To achieve a significant increase in the productivity of the business
base in the West Midlands;
2. To reduce unemployment and inequalities; and
3. To ensure that the region's economic growth is achieved in a
sustainable manner, which aids its transformation towards both a
low-carbon and high-value added economy.
