The City of Wheeling Economic & Community Development Department (CITY) has issued a request for cost proposals for the Wheeling Brownfields Program. The program exists to provide for economic redevelopment of potentially contaminated properties.
The CITY is seeking written proposals from qualified environmental consultants for the provision of clean-up cost estimates and remediation alternatives for an identified brownfields site that has received funding through the FOCUS WV Brownfields Mini Grant Program. The site, known as the former Penn Wheeling Closure property, is located in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. The former Penn Wheeling Closure property is situated on approximately 2 acres at the southwest corner of 19th and Jacob Streets, along Wheeling Creek (to its south) and West Virginia Route 2 (to its north and west).
The City of Wheeling is cooperating with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protections (WVDEPs) Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP). Therefore, the proposing firm must be familiar with the VRPs regulations, and will preferably be a WV Licensed Remediation Specialist (LRS).
