Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) requires preventative maintenance for an EDAX/AMETEX Octane Elite Plus Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy Detector (EDS).

The EDS detector is a unique and proprietary piece of equipment utilized by Trident Refit Facility (TRF) located in Bangor, WA, to analyze the material composition of SSBN parts and components in order to verify/disprove the chemical make-up against specifications. The EDS detector is also used to determine the chemical composition of SSBN parts and components, as well as raw materials used to manufacture SSBN parts and components.

The EDS detector was installed at TRF in August 2017 by EDAX, Inc. and is in need of preventative maintenance to ensure the equipment functions properly. EDAX, Inc. is the only company capable of meeting the preventative maintenance needed because EDAX is the sole provider of parts and services for its equipment FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(ii).  Please see the attached related Justification and Approval documentation and DRAFT performance work statement (PWS) for additional information regarding this procurement.
