The Office is seeking a highly skilled contractor to plant native Texas coast species of dune vegetation and construct protective sand fencing. The Project will be carried out along approximately six (6) miles of Gulf beach beginning at the west end of the seawall and continuing due west, and will provide stabilization for a newly constructed dune system for this rapidly eroding, vulnerable area. The Project will consist of growing, harvesting, and planting coastal dune vegetation species, including bitter panicum (Panicum amarum), sea oats (Uniola paniculata), and marshay cordgrass (Spartina patens) on the new sand dune constructed by others; and fabricating and installing sand fencing. The Project will require planting a mix of species depending on the availability of species and quantities of plants available for growing and harvesting.
