Drivers education, behind the wheel training
MPS has a long standing history of providing a comprehensive drivers education program to MPS students. Effective
September 1, 2008 MPS will continue to provide thirty-three (33) hours of classroom instruction for each student
enrolled in the drivers education program, however it will no longer be the provider of simulation and behind the
wheel training. As a result, MPS is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide six (6) hours of behind the
wheel instruction and six (6) hours of observation for each student that completes and passes the classroom training.
MPS anticipates there will be a maximum of 450 students requiring behind the wheel training during the months of
September through December; 450 students during the months of January through April; and 450 students during the
months of May through August.
