The objective of this project is to catalog and summarize the design, operation, and monitoring of the hundreds of biologically enhanced rapid-rate filtration facilities in North America. By identifying and analyzing existing biofiltration facilities, the project is expected to: 1) Widely communicate the benefits of biofiltration, 2) Identify the water quality benefits of biofiltration, while providing lessons learned on mitigating any negative impacts and 3) Provide guidance to utilities to improve the initial design and on-going operations of biofiltration facilities.
