The Center will be the development of an approximately 15,000 plus square foot facility which is envisioned to be a focal point of a broad spectrum of senior services including health, social, nutritional, educational and recreational opportunities in the area.It should be a facility that meets the National Council on Aging's definition of a senior center which is as follows: "A community focal point where older adults come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement in and with the center and community." A multi-use design along with outdoor recreation facilities will bring senior participants from primarily the area for wellness, recreational and social interactions but be open to all area seniors. The Center should be designed and operated to support the Center's accreditation as a Nationally Accredited Senior Center by the National Institute of Senior Centers.
