Development And Deployment Of A Bus Customer Information System Application

The authority will issue a Request For Proposals on or about May 9th 2011 for the development and deployment of a Bus Customer Information System application. The application would consist of the software, computing, networking, and hosted online services that receives real-time location data from the authority's fleet of buses, combines it with reference data such as schedules and routes, and distributes the results to the Authority customers through various digital and mobile interfaces. MTA will consider proposals based on extending and deploying the open source software application, OneBusAway, that MTA is using to power its one-route demonstration project (available online at http://bustime.mta.info), as well as proposals based on other open source or proprietary software platforms.
A pre-proposal conference (non-mandatory but attendance will be desirable) will be held on Thursday, May 19th, 2011 at 9:30 am at 347 Madison Avenue, 5th Floor Board Room, New York, NY.
