Deadline to Submit Proposal: 5pm (Chicago Time), Friday October 30, 2009
V.04_DB_10/21/2009
A. About Us
Healthy Schools Campaigns mission is to advocate for policies and practices that allow all students, teachers and staff to learn and work in a healthy school environment. The organization started in 2002 and has programs locally in Chicago and nationally. For more information, visit the website at http://healthyschoolscampaign.org and for more on the "Green Clean" program see http://greencleanschools.org.

B. Key Project Requirement
We are looking to develop a database-driven website-like application to run off of a CD (from both Macs and PC's)

C. Specific requirements
The application will be able to run (auto run) from a CD and perform in a similar way to our website version.
Functionality will exist to take flat files and update the data for future updates. Live, updated database is maintained as a mySQL database on HSC's server.
That the project have two check-in stages where HSC will review status of the project with the successful contractor to ensure accurate direction of the project.

D. Background and Data about the project
We currently have a CD/Website that is being distributed to schools to encourage them to eliminate toxic cleaning chemicals from their cleaning programs. We have distributed more than 90,000 of these to schools throughout the US. We currently list about 600 products on the web database. This is available to view here (sign in required):
http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org/programs/gcs/signin.php
Once logged in, the specific dynamic, database driven pages that need to be recreated on the cd are:
Products: http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org/programs/gcs/guide2/products.php
Companies/Sponsors: http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org/programs/gcs/guide2/sponsors.php
Distributors: http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org/programs/gcs/guide2/region.php
Distributors (from Triple S): http://www.healthyschoolscampaign.org/programs/gcs/guide2/SSS.php
Version 3.0 of the CD will be released in September 2010. The function that we need includes:
Access a database for products, companies, distributors (please see excel sheets below to see the current form of data)
Create viewable page for products that are searchable and sortable by various fields including by Company, by product type, by distributor, by geographic location etc.
Create viewable page for company listings
Create ability to update the database application will read for future versions.
This database must run off of a CD.
Sample data exported from mySQL (please request access to these files at [email protected]):
