Dawson Bridge Rehabilitation (Capital Construction Contract No. 0934) The contract consists of: Close the bridge to traffic and pedestrians. Environmental protection during all stages of construction. Temporarily relocate and protect utilities during construction. Develop and maintain a construction waste recycling program for concrete, steel, and wood. Construct a hanging scaffold below the bridge (exact scaffolding level below the bridge to be determined by the Contractor). Construct a containment system enclosing the bridge. Remove the existing concrete deck, timber sub-deck, concrete barriers, wooden sidewalk, and sidewalk support brackets. Repair or replace damaged and under-strength truss members. Replacement of rivets with high strength bolts at critical connections. Replace the deck with a composite steel plate and elastomer deck complete with a polymer modified asphalt wearing surface. Miscellaneous concrete repairs to piers, pier caps, and abutments. Complete blast cleaning and recoating of the entire bridge using a 3-coat zinc/epoxy/urethane paint system. Construction of new, widened wooden sidewalks. Installation of utility pipe line. Replacement of traffic and pedestrian barriers. Repair or replacement of bridge bearings.
