David Maslanka Archives and Collections Management

David Maslanka was an accomplished composer, residing in Missoula, Montana. Maslanka passed away in August of this year after a short battle with cancer. Among his more than 150 works are over 50 pieces for wind ensemble, including eight symphonies, seventeen concertos, a Mass, and many concert pieces. Maslanka also created many works of art, primarily using chalk as his medium. His studio will house these materials and serve as a reading room and archive for all his works. The materials in his studio and associated storage are to be cataloged, digitized, and archivally stored. There will be an ongoing acquisition of all items associated with Maslanka's life and work to be included in the collection.
The primary objectives of this project are to preserve, organize, digitize, and store David Maslanka's life works for posterity and educational use. These include musical scores, sketches, recordings, notes, journals, instruments, artwork, and personal effects.
