The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) is a small, nonprofit organization, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, that administers the national program to accredit governmental public health departments at the state, local, tribal, and territorial level. PHAB has recently launched programs to accredit public health functions on army installations and the vital records/health statistics units of state health departments. Since the first health department was accredited in 2013, PHAB has accredited more than 250 health departments. Through this process, PHAB has compiled a unique dataset comprised of peer-reviewed assessments of health department capacity. PHAB has received many inquiries from the public health field about these data. PHAB is seeking an entity to develop a data visualization tool (DVT) to enable members of the public to access this information in an aggregate manner.
