Naval Station Newport, Newport, RI; Contract Numbers:

N40085-16-D-3044; N40085-16-D-304.
This Design Build project consists of Design and
Construction services to design and install two (2) -
minimum 2 HR UL listed fire protective smoke curtains at
either end of Mahan Hall elevated pedestrian bridge- one
new fire protective smoke curtain shall be installed at the
B1 Luce Hall connection and one existing fire shutter to
removed and replaced with a new fire protective smoke
curtain at the B3 Mahan Hall connection.
Both structures
are part of the Original U.S. Naval War Collegeb . A
second elevated pedestrian walkway connects a third
historical building, B1A Pringle Hall. Mahan Hall and Luce
Hall are not separated from the walkway or each other. Both
Pringle Hall and Luce Hall have undergone recent
renovations that have included new fire protection and fire
alarm systems that are connected to each other. Mahan Hall
does not have a fire protection system and has an outdated
fire alarm system.
The Contractor shall provide, as part of this contract, his
own complete and comprehensive Hazardous Materials Survey
and Report, as impacted by the scope of the work.
Luce Hall is designated as a National Historic Landmark and
Mahan Hall is eligible for listing in the National Register
of Historic Places by the Rhode Island, State Historic
Preservation Office (SHPO).
The Contractor shall provide a
SHPO submission for approval to interior wood working
details impacted by the scope of work.
