Brookhaven Science Associates, LLC (BSA), under a Prime Contract for the operation of Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), herewith solicits your proposal for one 300 kV high performance Cryo-Electron microscope (HPM) and a Conventional Screening Microscope (CSM).

The two electron microscope systems are to be used for high resolution biomolecular science at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) at BNL. The microscope configurations require an automated cryogenic sample loader, and a high frame-rate direct electron detector capable of delivering long-term operation stability and accuracy for acquiring atomic resolution imaging of biological single particles. In order to prepare suitable samples for data acquisition with the HPM, the equipment also includes a conventional screening microscope which will be operated at 120 kV and configured to be suitable for screening biological samples at room temperature as well as at cryogenic temperature. For both instruments, multi-scale automated data acquisition software is required to support unattended long-term imaging data collection. The suite of microscopes will enable the determination of atomic or near-atomic resolution biomolecular and cellular structures that are important to human health and disease.
