Critical Workforce Shelter
Site clearing and site utilities, paving, grading and drainage. Construction of a 32,000 square foot, one-story, poured-in-place concrete structure with a pre-cast concrete roof deck. The facility contains a full commercial kitchen, a large number of showers, toilets and other bathroom facilities, electrical service with back-up generator and mechanical systems consisting of electric heat and chilled water cooling. Large open multi-purpose spaces will be used for housing City employees critical to getting infrastructure operational following a disaster, as a shelter for displaced persons in case of a disaster or emergency situation, and general training functions. The facility is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
