Install identical pair of 6509-V-E chassis and configure them for VSS using LRM optics connecting both the Supervisors and the 6708 Line Cards for redundancy. Use existing FWSM and new FWSM to configure them for active/standby failover. Configure Etherchannel between the Core and all IDFs and WAN sites connected by fiber where required.
