The 7,102 SF Bureau and the 83,871 SF two story Headquarters Building and Lab are structural steel framed superstructures on two-way flat foundations slabs over carton forms and supported on drilled cast-in-place concrete piers. The 19,922 SF Ancillary Building has a pre-engineered metal building frame with a soil supported slab with drilled piers supporting the building columns and perimeter beam. The headquarters site consists of 19 acres and development includes 423 asphalt paved parking spaces, rigid concrete pavement circulation drives, concrete sidewalks, a compacted caliche impound lot, grading, seeding, landscaping, storm drainage features and utilities. Scope of work also includes: verification of correct installation of the drilled piers, fill, backfill, natural sub grade, and pavement base material. Field observations and tests and laboratory tests to insure compliance with specifications and structural drawings for concrete reinforcement, concrete material, concrete placement, slump and compression strength. Structural steel assemblies will require visual observation of welded connections, ultrasonic or radiographic testing of critical full-penetration welds, visual and torque testing of bolted connections. Concrete Masonry (CMU) will be observed to verify size and location of reinforcement and proper placement of grout, verification of compliance with strength requirements for the grout. Hot mix asphaltic concrete cores will be tested to determine field density, voids, asphalt content and gradation. The testing lab's field technician(s) will report field observations to the on-site job superintendent and owner's representative. The testing lab will assist the superintendent in identification and correction of any observed noncompliance with project specifications.
