Commercial Sector Solid Waste Reduction Audits and Technical Assistance
The primary goal of the project is to determine the existing and potential waste diversion
for selected business sites located within areas subject to the Citys nonexclusive waste
service franchise agreement. Completing waste reduction/recycling audits and
providing technical assistance to businesses are programs identified in Irvines Source
Reduction and Recycling Element (SRRE), which is the Citys state-approved plan for
meeting AB939 diversion and public education requirements. Documentation of the
audits can be used to demonstrate good faith compliance with the requirements of AB
939. Within this task, the contractor may be called upon to assist with disposal or
diversion calculations and documentation from various special events or venues, or to
otherwise assist in compiling data and drafting reports to local or state agencies
including Annual Reports to the California Integrated Waste Management Board
(CIWMB).
