Phase I - To develop an environmental scan template/tool that can be used to create an inventory of regional and
municipal policies that impact chronic disease. These include policies related to access to nutritious food, access to
recreation and physical activity, prevention of alcohol misuse and prevention of tobacco use and exposure. Guidelines
that outline how the template/tool is to be filled in and gives guidance on approaches to complete this work will also be
prepared.
Heart health coordinators across the province will collaborate with a variety of local partners to complete this tool within
their own communities.
Phase II - To synthesize individual scans from heart health networks (up to 37 scans) into a final report. This report will
outline policies across Ontario that supports the Ministry of Health Promotion's Policy Framework for Community Action.
