Please note that this is NOT a request for quotes or proposals, the Government is seeking information for market research purposes only. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA James J. Peters VA medical center is currently conducting a market survey for qualified firms capable of providing services of certified-licensed, qualified, professional mechanics to perform work to thoroughly clean and inspect fire sides and water sides of four (4) Keeler Boilers at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Northport VA Medical Center, the vendor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment and supervision to perform this service the specific work required shall be described below:
A.
1. Have fully trained and qualified mechanics with confined space certification performing all work.
2. Perform all work in strict accordance with all latest OSHA-EPA-National Plumbing-National Electric-Federal- State-Local codes and accepted trade practices.
3. Lock out all atomizing steam, control air, feed water supply, main non-return steam stop, steam stop on main boiler room header, chemical feed lines, surface blow and bottom blow lines. Forces draft at main electric panel. All electric power to program and controls. Power supply to boiler at main electric panel.
4. Water sides: The vendor shall remove internal feed line and baffles from steam drum, clean and replace. The vendor shall supply new nuts and bolts to reinstall all internal baffles in steam drum. Nuts and bolts will be high temperature and high pressure steel grade 9.
5. All boiler tubes shall be cleaned by passing motor driven turbine brush on flex shaft through all tubes. The brush shall be kept in continuous motion to prevent damage to the tubes.
6. Scale rust and sludge loosened from tubes shall be flushed down the mud drain with water, and removed.
7. The steam and mud drum will be scraped and wire brushed to remove scale corrosion, rust and sludge.
8. Gaskets on steam drum will be supplied by government.
9. Fire sides: The vendor shall thoroughly clean all boiler tubes to remove soot, carbon, ash, and fuel deposits. The vendor shall steam, scrape and wire brush all fire sides.
10. Steam cleaner will be furnished by contractor. Compressed air will be furnished by contractor.
11. Vendor responsible for closing boiler after inspection is complete.
B. Perform the service once a year on boilers #1 and #3 on even years and boilers #2 and #4 on odd years between the months of August and September.
C. Be responsible for the integrity of all work related to this project.
D. Contact Charles Solicito or his designated representative when work will commence.
E. Provide all reports/findings/recommendations to Charles Solicito or his designated representative.

Responses to this notice will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions.
