The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (Parks) has issued, as of the date of this email, a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for the improvement of a waterfront parcel at West 19 Road in Broad Channel, Queens, NY.
The site is approximately nine acres and has approximately 380 feet of waterfront on Jamaica Bay; the site also borders both the Gateway National Recreation Area and Broad Channel Park.
This RFEI is intended to solicit ideas for the revitalization of this currently dormant and underused asset from members of the local community, area non-profits and local entrepreneurs, experts in the fields of ecology, outdoor recreation, or sustainable development.
Parks is interested in receiving expressions of interest that would create a new and unique experience that would both increase access and understanding of Jamaica Bay and be sensitive to the important environmental concerns in the area.
All proposals submitted in response to this RFEI must be submitted no later than Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
There will be a recommended on-site meeting and site tour on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. We will be meeting at the site, which is located at the end of West 19 Road in Broad Channel, Queens. We will be meeting at the entrance to the premises. If you are considering responding to this RFEI, please make every effort to attend this recommended meeting and site tour.
Hard copies of the RFEI can be obtained, at no cost from Thursday, February 4, 2010 through Wednesday, March 31, 2010, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays, at the Revenue Division of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, which is located at 830 Fifth Avenue, Room 407, New York, NY 10065.
