Casino Impact Study in Southern Virginia

Danville Regional Foundation (DRF) in Danville, VA is an endowed private foundation with an independent board of directors. We focus on the economic and cultural transformation of two counties and one independent city along the Virginia-North Carolina border.
The Commonwealth of Virginia is considering authorizing the creation of several casino-based entertainment complexes. Danville is one of the places under consideration. Based on the current legislation passed by the Virginia Legislature, Danville may have a public referendum as soon as early 2020 to consider authorizing this for our community.
DRF has decided to underwrite a balanced, Independent study of the implications a casino-based entertainment complex, based on the experience of similar efforts in comparable micropolitian communities in the United States. The results of this study will be made available to the voters of this area. DRF has not and will not take a position on the proposed casino.
Proposals must be received by DRF no later than May 15, 2019. The contract to undertake the work shall be entered into by June 3, 2019. A near complete draft of the study must be submitted by October 15, 2019 with the final study to be completed, delivered and presented by December 2, 2019.
