The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Carahsoft Technology Corp., 11493 Sunset Hills Road, Suite100, Reston, Virginia 20190. MapBox has been the only product that enables Traveler's Health Branch and the GMTF Communication team to make maps that meet CDC/DGMQ established cartographic design requirements. The numerous maps made so far through the Traveler's Health website in support of travel recommendations and warnings have used consistent color scheme, font style, and general appearance. Moreover, MapBox is the only vendor whose product enables the cartographers to maintain these requirements with an interactive mapping environment. ArcGIS online by ESRI was considered as an alternative. Unfortunately ERSI system does not permit the level of cartographic control needed to successfully make the specified design requirements. Additional the ESRI system requires additional computing infrastructure that would come to be cost prohibitive.
