Call for Artists Bike Racks

Lewiston
under
the
authority
of
the
Lewiston
Urban
Renewal
Agency
is
pleased
to
announce
its
call
for
artists
for
the
Downtown
Lewiston
Streetscape
Project
as
part
of
the
redevelopment
of
1st
and
5th
Streets
in
Lewiston,
Idaho.
This
call
for
artists
is
for
the
design,
construction
and
installation
of
up
to
eight
(8)
bicycle
racks
within
the
sidewalk
along
First
and
Fifth
Streets
within
reconstructed
project
area.
The
Project
area
includes
Fifth
Street
from
F
Street
to
the
Levee
Bypass
and
First
Street
from
D
Street
to
Beachey
Street.
We
are
envisioning
a
sculpture/sculptural
element
where
bikes
can
be
secured.
The
sculpture
and
the
parked
bikes
may
not
block
pedestrian
clear
access
or
affect
conformance
with
ADA
site
clearances.
Design
may
allow
for
bicycles
to
be
supported
by
the
rim
(in
a
manner
that
prevents
damage
to
the
bicycle),
but
the
artist
in
encouraged
to
provide
a
design
that
permits
locking
the
bicycle
beside
or
within
the
sculpture.
The
bike
racks
should
be
able
to
be
viewed
and
utilized
from
all
sides.
The
typical
sidewalk
will
be
6.5'
to
22'
wide
and
be
4"
concrete
on
a
4"
gravel
base.
THIS
PROJECT
MAY
BE
AWARDED
TO
ONE
OR
MORE
SEPARATE
ARTISTS
OR
TEAMS.
THE
BUDGET
PRESENTED
SHOULD
INDICATE
THE
COST
OF
EACH
INDIVIDUAL
BIKE
RACK.
Budget
for
this
call
is
$20,000.
