Calibration
The Department has a need for Maintenance and Calibration on two (2) Cepheid SmartCyclers and two (2) Cepheid SmartCycler IIs. These instruments use microprocessor-controlled I-Core modules. Each SmartCycler and SmartCycler II contains sixteen (16) independently controlled, programmable I-Core modules, each with one reaction site. The Laboratorys main responsibility is a rapid response and identification of bacteria, viruses and toxins that could be used in acts of bioterrorism. Protocols, equipment and reagents for use in responding to these potential acts of bioterrorism are developed and specified by the Centers for Disease Control through the Laboratory Response Network (LRN). Testing is also performed on clinical and environmental samples as some of these agents are naturally occurring. The Cepheid Smart Cycler is the instrument specified for use by LRN protocol to perform all Real-Time PCR assays.
The Department needs to secure a contractor who can provide regular scheduled Maintenance and Calibration Service for two (2) Cepheid SmartCyclers and two (2) Cepheid SmartCycler IIs.
