DESCRIPTION

Corrosion Prevention and Control services are required in support of sustainment for the C-5M fleet. These services include providing sustaining engineering support and technical services to the C-5 Corrosion Prevention and Control Program (CPCP) for AFLCMC/WLSE at Robins AFB, GA. Sustaining engineering support shall consist of maintenance analysis, technical consultation, and technology development and evaluation and includes activities in support of the Corrosion Prevention Advisory Board (CPAB) and the C-5 CPCP Plan. The key components of an effective program include preventive, investigative, predictive/prognostic, and corrective elements. Improved preventive methods involve engineering investigations for determining the most effective application and removal of finish systems (primer, paint, etc.), preventive compounds, cleaning and coating materials, and environmentally safe and/or cost reduction alternatives, as well as proof of concept and kit proof fabrication and testing activities. The Contractor shall provide sustaining engineering support for the strategic planning and oversight of a corrosion program in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-1530D, Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP).

Additional technology development, materials, processes, and other data relative to the C-5 Corrosion Prevention and Control Program which becomes available and is determined suitable by the C-5 Corrosion Program Manager for corrosion prevention and control shall be included in the CPCP Plan for fleet management. Analysis efforts shall include material and process compatibility and investigation summaries. If not accomplished, unfavorable impacts on flight safety, aircraft availability and weapon system costs may occur.
