COTS Software Integration for Sharepoint 2010 with OCR Capabilities
The SEC is interested in companies with comparable software products which have the demonstrated compatibility to integrate with SharePoint 2010. This request for information (RFI) is being issued to survey support in making functional and business decisions that will affect the procurement of a Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software which integrates with SharePoint 2010 search via the iFilter mechanism and allows us to crawl and index the contents of PDF documents which can be in one of two states: the document has already been OCR'd and the iFilter performs the indexing of the OCR metadata, or the document is a PDF image and the iFilter software performs the OCR'ing of the document during the search crawl and index. In either case, we would then have a searchable index that includes the contents of all PDF documents, regardless of their state (i.e. whether they have been OCR'd or not), without necessarily having to make modifications to non-OCR'd documents to make them searchable.
