Subject to conditions prescribed by the University of California, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), responses to the University's pre-qualification documents for a Construction Management/General Contractor (CM/GC) fixed price construction Subcontract are sought for the following project:

                             

Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Integrative Genomics Building Project (RFP # SF04-2015)

Pre-qualification of prospective offerors:              The University has determined that offerors for this project must be pre-qualified.  Pre-qualified firms will be required to have a valid California contractor’s license/classification: B GENERAL BUILDING CONTRACTOR.  The University is seeking responses from both large and small businesses.  ________________________________________________________________________________________________

This project includes construction of a 75,000 to 95,000 GSF laboratory and research office building with an adjacent 4,000 GSF modular utility plant (MUP).   The University expects to issue a Request for Proposals within the next three months. 


The University intends to award a single CM/GC subcontract for this project.  Preconstruction services will be performed during the first 12 months of the project and, at the University’s option, construction will be performed for approximately 30 months after the option is exercised.  The subcontract will be issued under Prime Contract No. DE-AC02-05CH11231 between the University and the United States Government (hereinafter "Government"), represented by the Department of Energy (hereinafter "DOE") for the management and operation of the LBNL and the performance of certain research and development work.

Estimated Price Range:  The estimated total construction cost for the work is $60M to $70M.

Site Visit:  A non-mandatory site visit is scheduled on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 (time and room location TBD) for interested parties.  If you intend to participate, send an e-mail to Sharell Geddins (SGeddins@lbl.gov) by 3PM on Thursday March 12, 2015 for gate access and any additional instructions.

Procedures:  Prequalification questionnaire & instructions will be available to interested firms beginning February 27, 2015 at the following web site: http://facilitiesprojects.lbl.gov/. ; Pre-qualification packages (responses) are due March 31, 2015.  Any questions or requests for clarification or interpretation of the Prequalification documents must be submitted by e-mail to Sarah Eary at SSEary@lbl.gov. ; Questions must be submitted no later than March 20, 2015.  Questions received after that date will be answered at the discretion of the University.
