This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE is for market ******** only and does not constitute a Request for and, it is not ********** to be a commitment by the ********** to award a nor will the ********** pay for any ion provided; no basis for claim against the ********** shall arise as a result from a response to this Sources Sought Notice or ********** use of any ion provided.


Pursuant to FAR Part 10 (Market ********), the purpose of this notice is to:


(1) Determine if sources capable of satisfying the agency's requirements exists.

(2) Determine if commercial items suitable to meet the agency's needs are available or could be modified to meet the agency's requirements.

(3) Determine the commercial practices of company's engaged in providing the needed service or supply.


Pursuant to FAR Part 6 and FAR Part 19, competition and set-aside decisions may be based on the results of this market ********. This notice in no way obligates the ********** to any further action.


REQUIREMENT: This notice is issued by the U.S. Coast Guard, Base Ketchikan, Ketchikan, AK, to identify sources capable of providing the following:

Base Ketchikan Armory ********* System Installation:

1.1. The or shall provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, supervision, engineering services, and transportation necessary to install an adequate lightning protection system at Base Ketchikan FORCECOM Armory in compliance with NFPA 780, NAVSEA OP 5, and MIL-HDBK-419.

1.2. Per NAVSEA OP 5 and MIL-HDBK-419, lightning protection systems on military installations shall be designed for a resistance to ground of 10 ohms vice the 25 ohms specified in NFPA 780. For example, a system of 50 two foot copper ********* rods connected by a 20x15 horizontal grid with 8' spacing, requiring a 160'x120' footprint and 4,520' of copper cable will result in a theoretical resistance to ground of 9.7 ohms.

1.3. The or may use the above example for cost estimation or provide their own solution, including calculation of theoretical resistance to ground.



Anticipated Period of Performance: The period of performance is anticipated to be for approximately 60 calendar days with a start date on or about Fiscal Year 2022 (subject to change at the discretion of the **********). A firm-fixed price is anticipated for award.


NAICS Code/Size Standard: The applicable NAICS Code is 238290 Lightning protection equipment (e.g., lightning rod) installation and the size standard is $15.0M.
