Birmingham International Airport is seeking to replace the CAT IIIb Instrument Landing System (ILS) to
include glide path and localiser to to each end of the main runway 15-33. The replacement of the ILS is to
be on a phased basis in line with aerodrome developments with the first localiser and glidepath units to be
commissioned before the end of winter 2010/11 and the second unit to be installed before the end of winter
2011/12. Any system that is proposed for installation must be fully compliant with United Kingdom Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA) requirements and installed so as to minimise disruption to a busy 24/7 operation.
