CNM has a agreement to take possession the old APS data center facility in fall of 2010. CNM
would like to develop a plan for the renovation of the building to create a new CNM bookstore
and Student Activities Center which will house the Dean of Students office as well as
experiential learning and other student centered activities. The 10,000 sf building will need to
be renovated and added on to support the functions being considered. The project will also
include the development of the area surrounding the building to allow for a covered area that
would support and promote student activities throughout the year. The area must also showcase
CNM committed to sustainability by using sustainable practices in the development of the area.
CNM would like the outdoor area to serve as a demonstration area to showcase such items as
solar power, and wind power in a creative and innovative way. The project will also include a
landscaping plan that will help guide students from the parking area to the corner intersection so
that students can travel safely from one side of the campus to the other. The second portion of
the project will include renovation of the existing bookstore I in the Student Services Center to
house grant funded programs such as Trio, Testing, and Assessment. The project will also
include the possibility of expanding the food court area under the current walkway to allow for
enclosed seating area for students to study, eat and gather.
