TASK 1 (September-October 2011) - Archaeological survey of three treatment areas totaling 28 acres (Figure 2).
TASK 2 (July-October 2012) - Given the potential historic significance of this property, the fact that it is managed for wildlife habitat including those that are state and potentially federally listed, and the agency's desire to work cooperatively with the Department to identify and interpret significant historical resources on the properties that it manages, TASK 2 will include an archaeological assessment on the rest of the property. A number of variables will be assessed to identify high priority sites for shovel test pits. These will include but not be limited to town records, archaeological sites files maintained at the Department, deed information maintained at the agency, USGS topographic maps showing contours and vegetation, aerial photographs, and soils information mapped by the USDA.
