It is expected that this program will serve fourteen (14) students at any one (1)
time in a year round educational setting. The design for this program should be
sufficiently comprehensive to address the range of educational and behavioral
needs at middle and high school levels within this population, including remedial
education and basic skills training. Favorable consideration will be given to
flexible student scheduling opportunities, including morning, afternoon, and
evening classes and programs with employment services. Counseling and
outreach personnel need to be available to address additional needs including
substance abuse, truancy, anger control, gang affiliation, mental illness, and
physical aggression. Proposals should include effective truancy intervention
programs and specialized services to address substance abuse for program
participants. Proposals should include community linkages to clients and
families.
