Alabama's Women Commission
The Alabama Women's Commission is currently seeking to commission a study of the issues affecting a mother and her infant (birth to age one), with particular attention being paid to policies and practices with regard to education, counseling and job training, legal rights and responsibilities, home and community, public an private employment policies and practices, and labor laws. This study should include examination of the mental and physical health and well-being of the mother and infant, including without limitation rates of depression, suicide and murder affecting mother and their infants up to one year of age. The final report should also include current best practices in the public and private sectors that address the identified problems.
