Air Bearing Stage, Motion Controller and Air Prep Kit
This is a Notice of Proposed Contract Action under the FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This notice is for information only; a solicitation will not be issued. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334519 with a small business size standard of 500 employees.
The Government requires the purchase of the one (1) of each of the following six (6) items. These items comprise the air-bearing stage and related items required for its operation and maintenance:
A. PIglide AT3 Linear Motor Air Bearing stage (1x)
B. Motion controller (1x)
C. Air Prep Kit for filtering and pressure regulation (1x)
D. Cable Set, connecting PIglide stage to Motion controller (1x)
E. Adapter Plate stage for 1/4-20 screw holes in one-inch grid (1x)
F. 3 years warranty + parts for normal Wear & Tear (1x)
A. PIglide AT3 Linear Motor Air Bearing stage (1x)
Item number: A-123-350B1
This is an air-bearing translation stage with resolution of 1 nm, bi-directional repeatability of +-0.2 microns, and calibrated accuracy of +-0.2 microns, with a travel range of 350mm, giving us both the precision and long travel distance our experiment requires.
B. Motion Controller, 1-axis (1x)

This is a motion controller designed to interface with and control the PIglide Air bearing stage
C. Air Prep Kit (Filter and regulation) (1x)
Item number: A-801.100
This kit regulates and filters the air entering the PIglide air bearing stage to meet the stage's requirements for air quality.
D. Cable Set (1x)
Item number: A-851.B03
This cable set connects the PIglide stage to the A-81x-series of motion controllers, including both a motor cable, and an encoder cable.
E. Adapter Plate stage (1x)
Item number: A-123C013
This adapter plate will allow us to use our optics, employing 1/4-20 screws in a one-inch grid with their translation stage, which uses M6 crews. This component is essential so that the equipment we already have can be used with the PIglide translation stage.
F. 3 years warranty + parts for Normal Wear & Tear (1x)
Item number: R-WEXP
This extended warranty covers the cost of: replacement parts for wear and tear failures; parts and labor for manufacturing defects in material and workmanship; and with a maximum of two claims for any wear and tear failures.

The Government has determined that no other source can meet this requirement. It is essential to obtain this PIglide AT3 Linear Motor Air Bearing Stage. PIglide AT3 Linear Motor Air Bearing Stage is the only translation stage believed to be commercially available that has at the same time a high enough resolution, a long enough travel distance, and a high enough calibrated accuracy necessary for our experiment. The Government needs these specific items to measure the interference of individual entangled photon pairs, which requires a very stable and precise translation stage in order to build up enough statistics to accurately resolve the interference. If this system is not purchased, the Government would not be capable of reaching the stability, precision, and long travel distance required for their experiment. If this system is not purchased it would lead to duplication of cost and time lost to planning and research to quantify quantum resources (i.e., entanglement) for Air Force applications. The translation stage is a key component for the experiment. These components are state of the art, with performance that cannot be matched by other commercial options

Responses must be submitted by the date/time listed on the notice. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government in future procurements.
Responses received will be evaluated; however a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government anticipates an award date on or before 30 September 2019.
