Adolescent Health Education Services
The City is seeking services for the planning and implementation of evidence-based education programs for the prevention of teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). An evidence-based program is defined as a curriculum or a program that has been implemented with a group, rigorously evaluated, published in a peer-reviewed journal, and found to be effective in changing behavior. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Adolescent Health has evaluated the evidence supporting teen pregnancy prevention programs and has identified 31 programs that meet their criteria. This RFP is seeking a Respondent to provide evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention education in school based and community settings to a minimum of 1,200 adolescents between the ages of 11 and 19 each year. Services will be provided for the following school years: 2013 - 2014, 2014 - 2015, and 2015 - 2016 with an option for an additional year of services for the 2016 - 2017 academic year pending the availability of funding.
