The international Methane to Markets Partnership is designed to advance cost-effective, near-term
methane recovery and use as a clean energy source. It provides funding for eligible projects to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, enhance economic growth, promote energy security, and improve the environment. This initiative involves collaboration among developed countries, developing countries, and
countries with economies in transition, together with strong participation from the private sector. The MTM targets four major methane sources: agriculture (manure management only), landfills, underground coal mines, and oil and gas systems.
