ASU requires a Design Professional to develop the program for ASUs School of Human Evolution and Social
Change (SHESC) and to propose a detailed expansion plan that starts with the SHESC Building, Matthews Hall,
and Matthews Center, but will inevitably involve other campus buildings. Note that a Historic Architect is needed
to evaluate the SHESC Building, Matt Hall, and Matt Center and to work throughout the design process to ensure
compliance with Secretary of the Interior Standards and SHPO requirements. The anticipated program includes
relocating/renovating spaces to accommodate new offices, classrooms, wet & dry labs, collections, and student
spaces. In addition to interior renovations required for SHESCs expansion the DP/CMAR will evaluate and
propose needed exterior and building system renovations. Note that this project is not merely a
programming/feasibility study. The DP/CMAR hired under this RFQ will design and construct the full project when
it moves forward, pending ASU Administration and ABOR approval.
