APPLANIX HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE TOOLS
NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) Airborne Science Program has a requirement for Applanix Hardware and Software Tools which will provide up to three years service for NASAs Applanix POS AV 510/610 Inertial Navigation Systems in support of a variety of Earth Science payloads. The services will include inspections, replacement of parts, refurbishment, and calibration and validation to factory specifications and working spares within 24 hours when there is a system failure during a mission.
NASA ARC intends to purchase the services from Applanix Corporation (Applanix), a Trimble Navigation Limited company. The system manufacturer, Applanix, is the only entity that has the relevant drawings, equipment and experience related to their proprietary systems. As such, the servicing of these units, including rapid response field spares, is only available through Applanix.
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on September 4, 2014. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
