USAMRIID Minimal Essential Component (MEC) Requirements
For (Hudson/Name Brand or Equal to) PlateCrane Modification
1. Must be compatible with Bio-Tek (Name brand or equal to) ELx405 Select CW Plate Washer, Depth 43.2 cm, Width 35.6 cm, Height: 27.9 cm; 100 - 240 Volts AC 50/60 Hz, less than 8.0 A, compatible with Bio-Stak, and both 96- and 384-well plates (low profile and standard height), with ability to run/edit multiple wash programs, and full automation of dispense and aspiration steps of conventional platewash workflows.
2. Must be compatible with Thermo Fisher Multidrop Combi Type 836 (Name brand or equal to) Reagent Dispenser, for 6- to 1536-well plates, with precise dispensing over a 0.5 to 2500 L range, with standard tube dispensing precision of 5 L, CV 10%; 20 L, CV 1.5%; 100 L, CV 1%; greater than 100 L, CV 1%, and dispensing speed: 10 L in 3 sec.; 20 L in 4 sec.; 100 L in 10 sec (96-well plates); and for 384-well plates dispensing speed of 1 L in 5 sec.; 5 L in 5 sec.; 10 L in 6 sec.; 20 L in 9 sec.
3. Must have Software (Thermo MultiDrop Combi Plug-in): In order to load, develop or modify instrument interface, drivers ( quote mark plug-ins quote mark ) must be used in the automated workcell. A plug-in controls a specific instrument (in this case linking the Multidrop Combi to Softlinx V). This plug-in is written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and complete program code is accessible to the user.
4. Must have Software (SoftLinx Version V) that interfaces for controlling third-party instruments, written in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) script. Allows users to write custom interfaces, and create assay protocols to define the timing and detailed parameters of each dispense, wash, shake, plate movement, incubation, etc.
5. Must include a Micro 10x 12-channel Dispense manifold, compatible with the Micro10x Robotic Dispenser
(Name brand or equivalent) and capable of the following dispense volumes: of 5 L and up - below 3%
CV; 3-5 L - below 5% CV, and typical dispense time/plate as follows: 96 wells/100uL per well, 13 seconds; 96 wells/25uL per well, 9 seconds; 384 wells/25uL per well, 22 seconds; 384 wells/10uL per well, 18 seconds.
6. Must be compatible with PlateCrane EX Gripper Fingers (Name brand or equivalent) for Random Access, for enhancement of plate selection/positioning.
