A/E PROFESSIONAL SERVICES - FIRE PROTECTION
The Architect/Engineer Subcontractor with Fire Protection Expertise will have a wide range of experience in the area of design and construction industrial facilities. This Subcontractor will provide Fire Protection support to ongoing Fermilab mission with, as a minimum, the following expertise: Familiar with DOE Order 420.1B Facility Safety, Illinois State, federal and local regulations and associated standards pertaining to fire and life safety including but not limited to: International Building Code, International Fire Code and National Fire Protection Association codes and standards. The most commonly used NFPA pamphlets used are NFPA 1, NFPA 13, NFPA 15, NFPA 20, NFPA 25, NPFA 13, NFPA 30, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, NFPA 318, NFPA 7f50 and NFPA 2001; Experience with fire modeling, using fire modeling, using fire modeling software recognized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Building and Fire Research Laboratory; Knowledge in the requirements of the use, storage and control of hazardous or flammable liquids/materials; Experience in reviewing schematic/conceptual design drawings in order to prepare a summary fire protection and life safety analysis report; Familiar with fire prevention principles,
Practices, and techniques related to the Occupational Health and Safety concepts; Preconceptual Design studies and Reports; Preliminary Design Studies and Reports; Final Design support including development of construction documents of fire/smoke detection, notification application, fire extinguishing, fire suppressions systems, and their interface with building automation/security systems; Final Design includes preparing hydraulic calculations, battery calculations, notifications appliance circuit voltage drop calculations, etc. Fermilab uses HRS-HASS for hydraulic calculations; Cost Estimating as appropriate for all phases of the project; Project Scheduling; Construction Phase support; Valve Management Analysis
