2009 Safe Places
Safe & Sound, Inc. is soliciting proposals, through an open, competitive process from non-profit
organizations to deliver high-quality services, supports and activities during out-of-school time
hours for the explicit purpose of juvenile crime prevention. What is sought are proposals from
private organizations, including community- and faith-based agencies and individual programs to
provide meaningful supports which will enable youth to avoid gangs, crime, and violent or
delinquent activities. Each is invited to submit a proposal to provide services at no charge to
youth from 10 to 19 years of age who live in a Safe & Sound neighborhood (see map, pg. 21).
Safe & Sound intends to be as inclusive as possible in this solicitation and desires to receive a
wide variety of proposals providing innovative and performance-driven programs that will enrich
the lives of youth. Youth-oriented service organizations are encouraged to apply, with or
without previous experience as a grantee with Safe & Sound, but with significant capacity and
demonstrable experience in providing after school-services to hard-to-serve youth and the
desire to work cooperatively with Safe & Sound Community Partners and law enforcement.
