2 Barges - Dry Dock Inspection, Cleaning, Repair & Painting

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Paul District requires a contractor to transport two barges from a location to be determined on the Upper Mississippi River, between UMRM 734 (La Crosse, WI) and UMRM 698 (Fountain City, WI) to the contractor's dry dock repair facility.

Barges are all steel construction, flat deck cargo barges, 110' x 26' x 6', double raked. As built drawings of similar barges are provided. Actual conditions on the barges may vary from the drawings provided. Actual as-built drawings of the barges to be repaired are not available.

The contractor shall raise the barges on the dry dock, and clean the hull exterior and interior hull plate and structural members on both rake ends, water blasting to remove all debris, scale, rust, and loose paint. After cleaning, the contractor shall visually inspect the hull plating and structural members, documenting the findings in writing. Hull conditions shall be surveyed by ultrasonic testing. Contractor shall provide a written report of findings and recommended actions to the Contracting Officer.

The contract will include options for replacement of hull plating, structural members, interior painting, and transportation of the barges to a location (TBD) between UMRM 698 and 734.
