Constructed in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific World Exposition, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (BGCA) has since undergone two significant modernization efforts-the first in 1964 which involved extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction, and the second in 1996 to seismically upgrade the structure and make ADA compliant. While minor repair work has been done since then, the current project scope includes renovating and upgrading the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and elevator systems to bring the BGCA up to code and functional in its current use-configuration for the next 30-40 years. The rehabilitation will also encompass hazardous material testing and abatement and upgrades to acoustics, theater design, interior finishes, furniture, fixtures and equipment.
